Roy Parker Jr.'s Nikasa N ($7.40, Montrell Teague) was a decisive wire-to-wire winner in the $20,000 Mares Open Tuesday at Harrington Raceway in 1:54.4 on a sloppy racetrack.
The strategy was never in question as driver Teague promptly stepped on the gas from post three and placed Nikasa N on the front end where she would cruise through fractions of 27, 56 and 1:25. She had opened up multiple lengths on the field at the top of the stretch and was under confident handling to the wire in her three-length score over Anneke and Designed To Dance. Trained by Eddie Dennis, it was the 4th win of the year for the 6-year-old Bettor's Delight mare. The win also gave Teague a double on the program, joining Victor Kirby, Allan Davis and Ross Wolfenden.
